The implant fulfils a dual function:

Short-term

In the short term, Ligamys offers mechanical stabilisation of the injured knee joint

Medium-term

In the medium term, Ligamys allows the torn cruciate ligament to heal up, enabling the patient to regain the original functionality

Advantages of Ligamys compared to reconstructive procedures: the native anterior cruciate ligament remains intact when the Ligamys implant is inserted. The need for withdrawal of a donor tendon is obviated.
